Boy is the Important Part of Boyfriend
I went birthday shopping with a friend of mine last week. Believe me, it wasn’t a fun experience. She called to ask me if I wanted to go to “noisy stores with expensive stuff.” When I asked her what she meant, she elaborated “You know, boy stores" and named ones that had great buys (hint hint) and another one who had his own city (hint hint) and a few others not as well known. Since I had gotten the same DVD from two people as a Christmas gift and knew that one of them came from the place with the great buys, so I agreed. This, the girl’s journey into the world of boy toys began.
Now, it is important for me to state here that I have a lot of what my friend calls boy toys including some that mainstream America is still learning about, but I can’t help but agree with her. If you go into these boy stores there seems to be a few things they all share in common: lots of boys are in the store, lots of boys work at the store, and lots of boys talk about the stuff they sell in these stores. All in all, it is by all accounts boy-friendly.
Sure, there are the occasional areas that are filled with kitchen items or coffee makers at a few of these stores but we figure it is just to keep most women busy while the men browse these boy toys with the same expectant "I can't wait to see what Santa brings me" look whether they are Santa-age or middle-age.
Yes, these stores are definitely filled with boy toys. They are toys that make noise like boys like. They are toys that need batteries like boys always buy in bulk, and they are toys that need those extended warranties that most girls hate buying. Okay, I am aware I am exaggerating here but it is all for affect and to prove some kind of perverted point on my part! Basically, it is true: the only difference between men and boys are the size of their toys.
So, let’s face it. Stop trying to turn your man into a GQ genius. While I recognize that there are some boys who can like electronics and still like a nice cologne, I will bet you my last dollar (that’s all I have until payday) that those boys would pick stinking over giving up some of those stinking toys.
It’s important in shopping for a gift idea for your boyfriend that you take the very title of this person into account. He is a boy and will be your friend if you go to the noisy place filled with other boys who will be friendly enough to help sell you the latest and greatest boy toy on the market. In other words, ask another man who resembles your boyfriend what he would like as a gift (I suggest looking for someone of similar age and style).
As for my friend, she got her boyfriend an IPOD accessory that is sure to help awake and alert him as well as a downloadable gift card for more music to add to that IPOD that is going to awake and alert him in style. One of the boys (okay they were men but for affect just go with me on this) helped her arrive at that very boy-friendly gift idea. All in all, I think she did really well for someone who ran in and ran out of the noisy store with her fingers in her ears!
